FAQ

Q: Why is the blog called 'Pigs in Maputo'?
A: Because I started drawing the cartoons in July 2010, when I was living in Maputo, Mozambique.

Q: Do you still live in Mozambique?
 A: Not since August 2012.
Q: Are you Brazilian?
A: Yes, from Rio de Janeiro.

Q: Why aren't the cartoons in Portuguese?
A: Because I started the cartoons to share with my personal friends, and most of them spoke English, while fewer spoke Portuguese (only the Brazilians and Mozambicans - and most of them could read English).  Also, in general, English words take less space than Portuguese - and I draw these in small square memo pad papers.

Q: Why do you draw pigs?
A1: Why not?
A2: Pig is one animal I can draw. It would be a lot harder for me to draw Meerkats in Maputo.
A3: Pig is also my totem animal, for those who know what a totem animal is.

Q: You have other pig cartoon blogs as well (Pigs Incorporated, Pigs in Math, Pigs in Spirit); why don't you post everything in the same blog?
A: Because I like to keep them separate; it feels more organized. Those who wish to follow everything can just add them all on Google Reader. Others don't care about all the blogs, so people can follow what they want (Pigs in Maputo being the most popular one). If you look at the right side of every blog, there are links to the other sibling pig cartoon blogs.

Q: Do you work with cartoons?
A: Professionally? Not really.  However, given that I can draw somewhat, sometimes at work people ask me to draw things.

Q: Are you a man or a woman?
A: Technically a woman with a penis envy. So it's ok if you confuse me with a guy. It happens all the freakin' time.
