A friend of mine already answered this one: "For compassionate reasons, if one really likes the taste of meat, at least he/she has the option to enjoy the taste without harming lives." Ah, ok.
Would you look at that! You learn something new every day. (I wonder if it can be used to make makeup props in the same way as the traditional stuff? Hmm, gotta look into that.)
Because some people avoid meat for ethical reasons, not necessarily because of the taste. Also, many meat dishes taste good because of the flavorings, so this is just one way to get the flavor without the cruelty. :)
